General Information - 2026
The Albany Open Studios Art Tour & Sale is set for September 5-7, 2026, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This year the tour includes 14 local artists at 7 studios throughout the greater Albany area. You’ll see creative artwork in watercolor, acrylics, ceramics, glass, metals, jewelry, textiles, wood, rocks and mixed media. Here is your chance to talk with the artists about what inspires them and the processes they use to create their art. You might even catch a few artists in action.
The concept of the open studios has been around a long time, starting with art salons of 17th century Paris where artists discussed techniques, encouraged experimentation, and fostered creativity. The modern version of open studios was initiated in the mid-1980’s with the Santa Cruz County Open Studios Tour in California. Since that time open studios tours have grown and spread across the Country. In Oregon alone there are a number of tours throughout the year including: Astoria Visual Arts (AVA) Open Studios Tour (July), Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour (May), Northside (Corvallis) Open Studios Tour (April), Philomath Open Studios Tour (October), Portland Open Studios (October), South Town (Corvallis) Art Walk (December), and now Albany Open Studios (September).
Artists on this year’s tour include: Leesa Bright, Cheryl French, Whittley Garcia, Lori Garcy, Jeanne Ground, Tom Hershberger, Carol Houk, Ronda Johnson, Melva Lehman, Rob Robinson, Hilda Rueda, Pat Spark, Steve Terhune, and Ute Vergin.
